Sorry for the big picture and upside down..first attempt at posting photos. Any how, This is a #3 project that started out as a 45/70 and was transformed to a 50-70 govt. 28" octagon barrel #1 wood set and a custom made Skinner barrel mount peep sight. The butt stock had some wood removed to lower the comb to allow better use of the barrel sights.

All work was preformed by Gunsmith John Taylor, Wa. State. I cant claim any hand in it's production. He built the barrel from a 50 cal round stock that he had in his shop.

Now that's a fine looking rifle! I always wanted to do this type conversion, but could never find a number 3 beat up enough to justify it. Found plenty that were kept "unda da bed" so they were all LNIB, but never even somewhat used. I wish they still sold barreled actions....
