If anyone made them, it would almost surely have been Cary.  The good news is that they'd have more likely been wire recordings than tape and might therefore still be viable.

Now, switching to my secret alter ego, Mr. Vincent Nigel-Murray, (and this is jaw-dropping-amazing) there is a badly preserved but as-best-possible transferred recording of Abraham Lincoln.  The last I knew, it was somewhere in the Smithsonian.

So, once again, Tom Edison often didn't so much invent things as perfect them.
