I don't know why one of the mold makers does not make a Self Greaser .  It would save a lot of time pan lubing, ect. A vent line from the base to each quadrant of the grease  grooves should do it.  A lube cookie in the mouth of the case should do it  Roll Eyes

I think JS has a plan for the guys that don't own a file for making the dovetail. Drilling is dangerous. I keep drilling through both sides of the barrel and need to install two zerks. Overkill.

I don't know about greasing the barrels but in Germany wasn't beer used to grease the shooters? And, Joe, you look so powerful and handsome with that grease gun;-)

To add more realism to this learned discourse, Smith & Wesson did introduce a cartridge around 1900 where the hollow base bullet was filled with grease with a lead plug which when fired forced grease out of vented holes in the nose of the bullet.  Alfred Nobel decided to give his prize to someone else.
