Double Gun Journal-3 SS historical rifles

In case it has not been mentioned; Miles Gilbert has written an excellent article in the DGJ on the 144th anniversary of the
International Match between the Irish and American teams
at Creedmoor on Long Island.
The Sharps, Rigby and Remington original match rifles are featured with photographs. Wingate, Fulton, Yale, Leech and the Leech Cup are fully treated with historical detail.

Owners of the older Lyman-Ideal reloading manuals will remember the references and pictures of the American-Irish respective teams. The DGJ is still one of the best out there covering current and historical SS rifle topics of considerable interest.

Odd, considering the name of that pub., but I've heard it before. Would assume the ad revenue of DGJ allows them to pay a lot more for contributions than SSJ can.

Many years ago, Double Gun Journal expanded its topics to much more than just double barreled shotguns, although they remain the main topic by wide margin. I was recently a bit surprised about the contents of their suite of topics when I was doing a few searches for info about drillings and kombi guns.

Drillings & other multi-barrel guns are in the same general "class" as doubles, but I view SSs as being in quite a different category; but more power to them if they wish to print info on SSs.

The full name is now "The Double Gun & Single Shot Journal".
There is even a Double gun & Single Shot List toward the
end of the publication for subscribers to list their respective
notices and/or firearms.

This publication is edited and published by Daniel P Cote'
out of East Jordan, MI. It has won awards due to its content,
fine unmatched photography,  and general overall quality.

The article mentioned on the three famous SS rifles of the
first Leech Cup Match is in  Volume 29 issue 2-Summer 2018.

Although I definitely do not share your lumping all "multibarrel - rifled(s) + smoothbore(s) guns" with purely shotguns, what surprised me was number of posts about turnbolt rifles and rifles with other types of receivers, including single shots. What I do not recall is seeing posts about autoloading and pump shotguns, however, I am pretty much blind to them.

Good to know! Years ago DoubleGun webbsite was my favorite gun site. May go back to that for simplicity's sake.
