Along with the 1873 Maynard that I bought from a friend tonight I also bought this beautiful little WW Greener small action Martini take down in .22L.  Medium weight barrel with a Beeches style post and globe front sight, a windage adjustable barrel sight, and a target adjustable saddle mounted aperture rear sight.  Checkered stocks, steel buttplate, horn forend cap, and a Bakelite pistol grip adaptor.  It has light border engraving on the action.  Very good bore.  It'll be fun to shoot this one too!

Wow, that's a dandy! Most of those will take a LR without any problem, but I'd limit it to standard velocity ammo.

That Greener is very nifty!

Thanks Vall. I'd probably seen it on other rifles and just didn't say anything (to myself or the owner). Anyhow, I spotted it here, and what better place to have an answer, hey?
It would take sharp tools and cutting onto the wood (best practice anyway) to do it, for sure.

It's checkered right up and over the top of the wrist and that all looks original, so there are no holes drilled in the stock for a sight like yours.  I've seen a few of these sights mounted on the back of the action saddle style just like this one.  I'll look at the base assembly and see if it is marked at all.  It's wearing a BSA rotating aperture disc now, but that might have been added to replace an original disc with a single aperture hole on the original lower adjustable base.  These multi hole adjustable rear discs are fairly common in my area and you see them on a lot of target rifles in .22 and on centrefire target rifles (mostly .303 Lee Enfields.)  They are usually marked Parker Hale, but sometimes BSA.

Years ago I had another .22 small action BSA martini with a much heavier round target barrel and it had the exact same bakelite pistol grip adaptor as this Greener.  I suspect that they were a target shooting accessory (possibly Parker Hale or BSA?) that many shooters added to their baby martini rifles.
