My breech seater  plunger fell out. Can't find any other parts.  What holds the plunger in and which way does it go in the case ?  hole end first or last?

Thanks,

Very nice seater if ones bullet is not overly sized to over power the strength of the small retaining screw. I always carried an extra and replaced it a couple of times for a 32-40 I once used it for.

Thanks Kurt!  Good to have instructions.

As far as I can tell, it doesn't address what keeps the plunger in.   Mine seems to be an early model, wooden handles with no screw in the bottom.    I did figure out from the instructions which way the insert went in.

Kurt thanks for sharing and just in time. A friend just picked up Neil Rice Seater for 32-40 and I have to make a new case for the 32 Miller.

Linda what case do you need to put on your Neil rice seater, if it is a 32-40 the one I am replacing might be available would have to run it by the owner.

Yes it is a 32-40. I had a conversation with Neil about making a spare adapter a couple of years ago and didn't follow through with it at the time. Unfortunately we know what happened and that kind of left me out in the cold.
But, I do need one mine is splitting in the neck area of the case and I an using it very gently.

Russ Webber probably could.

Linda I will check with my friend to see if he might be interested in selling his seater case or if he wants to keep it. Is your case straight tapered to 32 or does it have the factory case neck.

Linda my friend has chosen to keep the 32-40 Neil Rice Seater case. But I do believe I might have come up with a way to just use a fire formed case with an adapter attached to the back? I have made several 12L14 breech seater cases for friends but I always had the rifle on hand to insure the correct fit for each. Below is the 12L14 seater case I made for my 28-35SS breech seater that I also made for myself so I am still thinking how I might still be able to be of some help to yourself. Don't pay any attention to how dirty it is in the picture I didn't clean it after my last outing.

John,
I'm just trying to figure out how that seater works.
Thanks for asking your friend. I'm just being really careful with my Rice seater. I'm afraid my seater may be scratching my chamber walls. Seems that the adapter would have been a better material if it was constructed from a spent shell casing.

Bob it does indeed hook on a lug I attached to the receiver. What's real nice about it is you simply unscrew the seater assembly and screw another one on for a different a cartridge. No need to have more than one seating tool makes it extra nice and I built this one before I had a mill so it was done on the lathe with the milling attachment. Really quite easy to make if you don't mind doing quite a bit of filing and a real please to use and I like it even more so than the Weber.
