Black powder powder measure ideas?

I've looked all over for a decent powder measure for black powder and was wondering what everyone else uses. I'm not a match shooter, but I do want accuracy. So I don't need top notch big$$ measures. I just need consistent, accurate and reliable measurements. Lyman? Hornady? RCBS? Thanks a lot for everyone's  help!

I've used a few different ones including the ever popular Lyman #55.   The MVA is, by far, the best IMHO.

I use the Lyman 55 to good effect with BP.
Checking on my scale, the 55 dumps my Swiss 1.5
Plus Minus a couple tenths of a grain.

I use a Lyman 55.  If you really want cheap, use a ML measure and strike off the top or a dipper and do the same.

Drum-and-tube measures are potentially the most reproducible, but you need to learn how to use them to get the best results with BP.  When rotating the tube down to fill (handle up) DON'T bang it against the stop, as this settles the BP irregularly into the tube.   I install a small rubber stop in my measures to ensure that there is a soft, gentle stop at this point.    The reason that the B&M measures usually give good results is that the cumbersome procedure of operation FORCES you to do everything right.
Few powder scales are precise enough to reliably detect variations in weights of powder delivered by powder measures.   Don't fool yourself here.  If you can achieve a standard deviation of 0.1 gr, it is about as good as you can hope for.    This takes good measure technique AND well-sifted powder.    I weighed a considerable number of dumps with a laboratory balance and had a SD of about 0.15 gr.   This corresponds to around 1 fps velocity SD, other things being equal, with usual BP silhouette ctgs.

Thanks for your input guys, it's very much appreciated. I get the impression that any measure I obtain needs to have it's SD determined before I start weighing charges. I use a Dillon electronic scale, which has been very accurate with all the smokeless loading I do. I'm sure it will work well with black also. Chris, I think if can get to the point of 0.15 gr. SD that would be terrific! Thanks for setting me up with some parameters. Does everyone use a micrometer charger on their measure?

The Lyman DPS 1200 3 is the most consistent, of all the measures I've used, altho there's no small chorus of fans of the RCBS charge master.

Joe.

Joe, have you tried your new measure with BP or compared it with the Redding for accuracy?
