Stevens Promotional Gallery Targets

Picked these up recently.  Liked them for the fact that they had Stevens advertisements on them but also because they had been used and were dated 1910. Also it should go without mention because they showcase the skills of Hubalek and Ross, (which you would tend to lean on after Pope helped himself to find the door). The initials are a bit difficult for me to interpret either F.I.B. F.L.B. or F.B.  Reminds me of the basement shooting descriptions from the "My days in the Schutzen Game" Westergaard article.   Thought I would share.

Amazing they have survived for over a century.  Too bad the club or range wasn't identified, but you can't have everything.

I believe that the initials are F T B. similar to the Palmer Method of Business Writing.

My dad was born in 1908 and that is the type of hand writing that he learned in school.

I don't know anything about the Palmer Method, but I have seen the letters written that way many times.  I agree with Frank.

oodmoff,

What are the actual outside dimensions of those targets, length x width ?

The cards are both 5.5"l x 4.5"w
the outer ring is 4" in dia.
the black measures 2" in dia.
25 is 0.5 in dia
(basically 1/2" center w/ 1/4" rings)

Do we have any idea what the range was that it was shot at?

Scaled, the target would be 67 yards.

Unfortunately the seller never contacted me back when I inquired about any provenance.  The seller was from Mass.

Does that mark in the upper right-hand corner show 3 shots, 25 yards,   and  Peters 22 LR?

Anyone considering reproducing these targets? Would love to have some to display and also to copy and shoot.

slumlord44,
If you have a program like Corel, you can scan in a picture, clean it up to get rid of handwriting and bullet holes etc, scale it to full size, save it, and then print it for your own use.
That's one way some have created repros of old cartridge box labels, and lots of other things.

LOTS!--there's an epidemic of fake "original" gun boxes being peddled on-line, like the red S&W boxes that had been selling for $500--that kind of money makes high-quality fakery profitable. Restored Winchesters like M61s in fake boxes listed on GB are continually being exposed by experts on the  Winchester forum knowledgeable enough to detect minor errors in the repro labels & boxes.
