My Chinese sister-in-law says:

Perhaps that's their US strategy.

Quality tools are still available, just many fewer people know what they're for.
Hard to fix a computer with a faucet wrench, or a dead blow hammer...well maybe the hammer Grin

Though they are the bane of existence to the liberal educational doctrine, charter schools are springing up, teaching trades again.

Even a yuppy metro-sexual knows you can't make a decent carrot sculpture with a dull knife.
