Worth its weight in silver?

I was at our usual Tuesday afternoon .22 rimfire match.  A new geezer joined us.  The conversation centered around accurate .22 ammunition.  The new guy said "I never imagined that good rimfire ammunition would be worth its weight in silver".  Is he right?

The spot price of silver is hovering around $16.50 per troy ounce these days.  But since we don't know whether The Geezer was talking about single cartridges or common 50-round boxes, it's hard to gauge the appropriateness of his comparison.  On the other hand, I certainly agree that "good" meaning "consistently accurate" .22 ammo is at least for me hard enough to come by that I wouldn't mind paying a premium for it.
