Powder can?

I bought a box lot of powder and shot last week and ended up with this can that had a small quantity of FFFG in it. There are no markings or label. It has a slip top cap, and is 4 1/4" dia. X 6 1/4" high. Is this commercial powder can, what era?

Could have been from many of the BP companies over the course of years in the US ...

Is that a weld on the can, or is it solder that's blended with the rest of the outside? Without some marking it'll be tough to figure where the thing came from, but a weld would make it much too new, I'd guess.

All the joints are simple lap type and the 'solder' seems to be tin.

OK, it was just that the colors were so similar that I thought I'd ask. Tinned/soldered is good compared to a weld.

How large is that can? Never seen anything like it, but it looks pretty neat!

You were looking at the can?
Don't worry in a few years, when you catch up with me, you'll miss stuff like that so often that you think you should get extra points when you do get it all at one take.

Looks like an old smudge pot road flare can that is missing the wick assembly.

Smudge Pot? Well, that's not very glamorous.
The condition of it leads me to believe that it's not.

No offense intended, but it just doesn't look very glamorous.

Seems pretty small for a smudge pot?

I've got an old set of three that still have their nice shiny red paint and the mounting bracket that holds them to the kick panel, each is 4 1/2" in diameter and the same in height, not counting the neck.
