A Call To Arms
May 2nd, 2018 at 8:53pm
Print Post
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE;
On April 28, 2018 Scott Elliott announced a “Call to Arms” for all members of The Arizona Schuetzenverein. This was in response to a challenge for an inter-club match issued by Chris Pederson on behalf of The Eau Claire Schuetzenverein.  The First Annual Cheddar & Salsa Cup will take place in October 2018. Both clubs have agreed to the following courses of fire; Centerfire 50 Shot Offhand and 50 Shot Benchrest fired at 200 yards along with Rimfire 50 Shot Offhand and 50 Shot Benchrest fired at 100 yards. American Single Shot Rifle Association (ASSRA) rules and scoring apply.
This friendly competition includes a friendly wager of Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese and Salsa from Arizona. Both groups are working together to stream the events either on the ASSRA forum or Facebook in the spirit of a telegraph match.

Well that's very cool! We need more matches or excuses to shoot matches. Great idea!
Two thumbs up!

I've always thought......  Schuetzen shooters are hard to come by.  In any given area, just too few of us to hold much of a match.

This is going to be fun Smiley Thank you Chris for initiating this. I hope to see other groups doing matches like this.

Have fun guys. Y'all get attaboys- Smiley Smiley Smiley

I'm going to wait and see if there's gonna be a steak and lobster match. Even the way I shoot, that'd pay off.

if you need more attaboys, you know where to get 'em.

Not against it, but,
Here in Wi at Eau Claire, the October weather is likely to
be a real handicap

Up there in Wisconsin and Michigan you probably think Mexicans eat chili con carne. Salsa with cheese, indeed.... pffftttt!!! Lips Sealed

Wisconsin has been known as The Dairy State for a long, long time.
Green Bay Packer fans wear those Cheese Head hats for a reason, you know.    Grin
Gotta pick up some real cheese curds when I get back there this summer.    Smiley

I suggested about an hour ago to Chris that they shoot in September and we’ll shoot in October. From now through September we will be near if not over 100 degrees. When I originally suggested October to them I was using the climate in Avon Lake, Ohio (where I grew up) as my standard for weather back East Smiley
We will be using ASSRA rules and targets.
Take Care,
Scott

You could even it out more by shooting at night. Spotting will be tough, but good shooters don't need 'em anyhow.

They'll be fine. There are very few wussies or wimps in Wisconsin.

Well at last years spring (May) match at Eau Claire about 25 miles of road were snow and ice covered and temps at the range were mid to upper 30's but warmed up to balmy 40's.
Getting lube out of the lube pump was tricky, should have had a heated version (anyone make one?). So a match in October shouldn't be much worse providing the Gales of November don't come early !!

A string of lights above the targets and a generator off to the side.  Late dinner, cocktails, dancin girls...............   Shocked

          Joe.

A string of lights above the targets?
Why, that would be sorta like when they first installed lights in the ballpark to be able to have evening baseball games. Maybe we've been really missing out on something all these years.     Wink

The dancin girls aren't gonna try to give those Miss America contest type speeches, are they?

This is going to be centerfire and rimfire Smiley Looks like we are going to shoot rimfire on 10/21 at Phoenix Rod and Gun and choice of either rimfire or centerfire on 10/28 at Ben Avery.
