original Greman loads for the 8.15x46r

I am wondering what bullet weight and velocity the factory loads in Germany were for the 8.15x46r. I have a nice stalking rifle with express sights that is shooting very high with the hand loads I have been using. I am sure the sights were regulated for a particular bullet weight and speed. The rifle was made in 1909 in excellent condition. The load i shot today doesn't seem hot it is 12.5 gr SR4759 with a 140 gr. bullet mould made by mountain moulds. I think I need a heavier bullet but would like some advise. joe g.

Alliant 300MP
8.15x46R
BACO 316180 ... .316" 180 Grain Stop Ring Bullet
12.2gr
1158.2 chronograph fps avg

Be sure to slug your bore  ... Buffalo Arms also has the 320180 bullet mold
If you can't find 300MP, H110 has the same burn rate

I found this reference:
Then RWS and DWM offered these 8.15x46R factory loads:
139 gr Tesco copper jacket flat nose, 11.6 gr Rottweil Pistol powder, for 1365 fps, pressure 1050 kg/cm²
139 gr Tesco, 28 gr R5 (Rottweil #5), for 1919 fps, 1400 kg/cm²
170 gr hard lead, 12.3 gr Troisd.target powder 1912, 1493 fps, 1500 kg/cm²
142 gr lead, 31 gr black powder, 1529 fps, 1500 kg/cm²
So in 1940 1500 kg/cm² or at copper crusher was established as the future maximum service pressure for the 8.15x46R. So the CIP max pressure is indeed 1650 bar.
Of course it was originally a black powder round so would imagine something like a 160 to 180 grain lead bullet with a case full of black and maybe a velocity of 1250 to 1450 or so. Is your rifle marked with the proof bullet weight?

I should add that my stalking rifle shoots to the sights with a 170 to 180 grain bullet and around 14 grains of 4227.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Your bullet is a good 20 grains light, BUT, in that period it was regular practice to vary load for distance shot, quite often using BP  compressed pellets varying from one to three as well as as many as three different sight sets.

I want to thank all who responded. I will be loading up several different bullet weights to give them a try. I currently have a couple bullets .319 and several bullets for the 32-40 from Saeco Hoch Lyman and the mountain mould. I might have to buy a stop ring mould but really would rather not spend the money if I don't have to. One of the moulds i have should shoot low enough, i don't care how fast it is going as long as it will penetrate one sheet of paper at 100 yards.
