Breech seating for 03 Springfield?

Perhaps off-topic, my apologies, but has any one tried breech seating for an 03 Springfield?

I have several low-drag 30 cal moulds that could stand to be perfectly aligned to employ their BC and get good accuracy.

Frank,
Its not immediately obvious to me as to how/where
you anchor the fulcrum of that "Clevite" bar, so as to push
on the acorn nut...

The Remington's have a 2 screw mounting, on the left side of the receiver, to mount a rear aperture sight. I used those 2 holes, to hold the anchor.

My 40X came with a Keiger, 8 twist, 6mm Imp barrel. My wife got it (the money) for my Bday, about 7-8 years ago. Even though I wanted it at the time, I never shot it, except to fire form some brass.

I bought a 722 Remington barrel, in 300 Savage, because I had a neck and throat reamer made for the 308 "Palma". I had this Idea to lengthen the 300 Savage to 308 so, I wouldn't have to trim brass and have a improved throat.

While I was doing that, I though of making a BSer for it, too. I only shot it once that way and it has been in my safe since Sad So, I guess the answer is no but, maybe I'll shoot it again? I'm not much of a bolt action guy.

Another way to "breech seat" the 30 cals is to get
a Lyman 308403 mold(or NOE equivalent).
It casts a tapered bullet- designed by Harry Pope with the base band diameter on a
taper: the front of band is about 0.314, tapered to the base at about 0.311. One simply primes and powder in a Fire Formed case and then finger seat the bullet firmly into the mouth of the case. Load and shoot.

Thanks all!
308403 sounds like a low-cost minimal effort first step.

And 308403 or 311403 (they are different) works fine in an 03.  Also works fine in a Krag or in my spaghetti High Wall in .30-40 Krag.  And in my tight bored German Martini stalking rifle.

You can use a plugged case with an 03.  The bolt does a fine job of seating the bullet.

This is entirely possible, it is being done.

CBA competition in Plain-Base does not specify falling block actions and several people shooting the Kenmore (Washington state)  matches are shooting a bolt action with breech-seating. These are single shot benchrest bolt actions, one set in a composite stock and a laminated stock for the other.

The breech seater is machined to receiver diameter with the bullet  seated in the face. The bolt is withdrawn and the seater set in. The bullet is seated, then the seater withdrawn. Bolt is reinserted and the shot fired.

Cat best bullet I know if for 30/06/ or 30/40 is the old RG 4 now sold by SAECO as the 301. Back when I was shooting CBA it’s the one all the old timers recommended always propelled by 4759.  About 1600 FPS was the he sweet spot. I won a few postal’s with it bench and offhand 03 Springfield and Kraig.

Other obscure info is I saw a utube video about testing armor plate at Aberdeen. They had a Universal falling block receiver with a 50 BMG barrel fitted. Close range indoors crono set up to duplicate down range velocity on impact.  They were hand throwing the charges and breech seating using a plug to seat.

Plug would be how I would BS 03’s
