   Hi:

As the above heading states, what whould I pay fot this rifle?

I have new Shilen .30x10" blank that I could use to improve the #3.  How about a 30-40 Krag Improved?

I Sold the one I had for $800 a year and a half ago . If you are going to rebarrel might be cheaper to buy one in another more common caliber .

I have a #3 with #1 wood in 7mm Krag Improved and a Borchardt in 30-40 Krag Improved.  I really like both of them.  I am seriously considering sending the Ruger off to have the barrel fluted and the forearm narrowed to a Shuetzen style as the rifle is somewhat awkward to carry in the field.  I think in a Ruger I would stick with a standard 30-40 Krag as you can load it up to respectable velocities and they feed into the chamber so slick.  Tom

Have you checked on the availability of 30-40 brass.  At times, its hard to find.
