Like Clint Eastwood said, "A man has to know his limitations"!  If I take out the hunting post and bead and use an aperture and adjust the rear aperture size to make everything as clear as I can I can shoot 2" groups at 100 yards of 10 shots off of the bench which is much better than the 6 or 7" groups with the post and bead.  I decided my limitations were exceeded and put the scope back on yesterday to prepare for the annual spring wild boar hunt and shot 5 shots in 3/4".  Time to let the 25/35 add another notch on its belt!  Also shot some 75 grain bullets to see if I might want to use this rifle on ground squirrels when we finish the hog hunt and my trial load of 75 grain Vmax bullets with IMR 3031 shot less than 1 moa as well.  If I don't draw antelope tags this fall but get a deer tag I will put the tang sight back on as my eyes can still see the front sight on a deer to 150 yards or so.  Hell to get old but at least I can still see and crawl around the mountains.   Roll Eyes  Tom

AAR, with those beads, either square or round, you can hold ON the target.

If the target is the chest of a deer, yes.  But he was complaining about his results on a bullseye target.  On that kind of target, a center-hold, esp. with a bead, is less precise--you don't see target rifles fitted with beads. In fact, nowadays you don't see them fitted with anything but aperture front sights, worthless in the field, but perfect for bullseyes.

By the way, my 18K high-school class ring was converted by a jeweler into two post front sights with a broad 45 deg. angle, making the most highly visible hunting front sights I've ever used.

That's the same purpose I put my old wedding band to. Finally, a worthy use for that gold!

Have not seen any comments from you recently Joe.
Been out on a warm day practicing your eyes.
Did not think there were any bikinis out yet; or are you still using YouTube?

Hope to be Joe.

Will send you my schedule.

Cardiologist is doing testing on the 21st and 22nd to verify if my condition is OK.

I think the MVA #131 would work great on a 1894 for hunting purposes.
Probably just need a mid-range Soule for Silhouette.

I had a ghost sight on a 94 which was good but you need to have some adjustments.

Exercised my eyes on targets at Butte MT last Saturday.  Used the 38-55 Hepburn. Love that rifle. Need a lower rear sight as the staff hits the brim of my hat.                  Joe.

Okay, this is some topic drift, but, would that be a built up Hepburn or original? Hooks? Picture?

Dave, that will sharpen Joe's eyes a lot quicker than iron sights will  Roll Eyes

Must be above the canal.  If you shoot all in the red it will be easier to find all the lead  Grin
