I've tried both Unique and 2400, as I like both of these powders. I use 4.0 grs. of Unique, or 6.0 grs. of 2400. Both with a 50 gr. cast bullets. The mold I have is an RCBS 22-060-FN that was milled off to reduce the weight from 60 grs. to 50 grs.

What diameter bullets are you shooting ?  RCBS made a specialty mold for the 22 Hi-power that also uses a .227/.228" diameter bullet.  We have that mold and it is a steady seller for use in the Hi-power.  Is that the mold you are using modified to plain base ?

The RCBS 22-060-FN is for a .228" bullet, and it drops at that size.

Embarrassed

Well, I'm embarrassed to tell you that I have a lovely little 1885 Low Wall in .22 WCF and it's one of my MANY "back burner" project guns.  It's in very good condition inside and out and still retains a lot of it's original finish including case colours on the action.  I suspect the barrel was shortened a bit when the target sights were installed, but haven't verified that with Cody yet.  We've shot it a little bit with some vintage factory ammo I bought at a local gun show (very old and about 70% misfire / duds so far) but I have a stock of .22 Hornet brass to load for it.  My rifle chambers factory .22 Hornet brass / ammo easily and the plan is to fire form Hornet brass and then neck size only (I have a .22 Hornet neck die already).  I bought a NOE mould in .228" / 45 grains and one of their neck expanding plugs in the matching .228", but I still haven't cast a bullet from the mould yet.  I'll be watching your post for loading suggestions and tips to use in future when I get around to loading for and testing my .22 WCF rifle.  (I don't have any AA#2 and it's not readily available in my area so I'll have to explore other powder options.)  I'll include a couple of photos of my star shooting pupil using my rifle on one of our range outing days ...

Oh ... and by the way.  My rifle has British proofs as well so at some point it "lived" in England.  If only they could talk ...

Oh ... and another post script ... you can tell we were expecting severe recoil with this cartridge and I had the Lead Sled set up with a full 50 pounds of "ballast".

(Actually I brought several big bore rifles to shoot that day too.)

I shoot a 22WCF as well.  I am using RP Hornet brass and it chambers before I run it through my die.  The dies I use are CH 22WCF and yes it does push the shoulder back a very little bit.  My bullet is casted from an original Winchester 22WCF mould and it cast at 45gr .228 diameter.  I am using 3.3gr of titegroup and it shoots very good.

I just re-discovered this thread and had missed some of the replies.  I want to thank all who replied !!!  The combination of all replies pretty much gave me all I was looking for.
I have been on the lookout for an original 22 wcf but am finding they are not readily available.  I have  come acrost two that had been re-lined but the owners didnt know of the liner was dimentioned to the original 22 wcf specs or for the more modern 22 hornet.  I think most re-lined barrels went with the hornet chamber and .224" barrel groove.
Anyhoo many thank to all that offered help!

I still haven't got to mine yet (I keep buying more project guns!), but I've heard that a similar load of Winchester 231 also works well.  I have to break in my NOE mould (45 FN .228") and get mine out to shoot it.
