	Here is a nice little moose I got in Northern Alberta several years ago using a Ruger No. 1 in 30-06.

	Nice moose. He probably looked even nicer in the freezer. We have some antler restrictions here that make it difficult. A moose has to have three brow tines, be over 50 inches total spread, or be a spike-fork. The moose pictured may have three brow tines on the right antler if the small tine is longer than it is wide and is more than an inch long. The left antler looks like a 3 brow tiner but would need to be looked at from a different angle to be certain. One of the points could be a mid-brow tine that wouldn't count. The right antler has a point that sticks out quite a ways but I don't think it would make the spread over 50 inches. Do you know what the spread on this one was? If this all sounds confusing, welcome to my world of moose hunting. If I happen to shoot one that the traffic cop who's checking out the moose racks doesn't think is quite legal I get to give up all the meat and pay a 500 or 700 dollar fine. But, what the hell. That's just the way it is these days. JS

Also, that flyer on his right side opened him up to 53" It sucks that you essentially live in fear to pull the dang trigger. Another fine example of govt over regulation at its finest.

	It is a shame. Some confusing, and difficult to confirm government regs have caused a lot of people to just stop hunting all over the USA. We have some rivers and lakes here in Oregon that require an attorney to read the regulations, and I simply stopped fishing them because I was afraid I'd break some rule.

[/quote] Would it be unreasonable to require the various state Fish and Wildlife Divisions to manage their moose populations such that ALL bull moose have standard size and shape antlers that conform to the state requirements for antler size, # and length of points on each side?

	How about a roundup? They could be branded "Big Enuf" a turned lose.

	Boy, that'd be something to see- a moose roundup and branding. Suggest using illegal immigrants for the work and let the survivors have a green card when they get out of the hospital.

It makes more sense than the Seattle Liberalites wanting to nutter mountain goats in the Olympic National Park to reduce their numbers and save the habitat

	You have to wonder how many moose get left in the willows when a close inspection reveals they are 1/4 inch short of legal.
