Living in “the Hills” where daylight arrives about a day late, I wondered at the threads discussing 300-MP.  About as common around here as unicorns.  Yesterday a package arrived from Brownells. Would someone care to offer a starting load for a .32-40?  I customarily use #9 and breach seat.
Thanks.

Like Ken, my rifle likes 13.7 grs. of 300 MP behind a 201 grain Paul Jones bullet. I use Federal large rifle mag. primers ( all most impossible to find). Also, 12.8 grains of 300 MP turns my 28-35 SS into a real shooter ( 146 grain Moss bullet).

Outstanding results Ken with the sled and very impressing to say the least. Not sure why you might not continue to use it especially so just for testing. I know you are a bag shooter same as I but there are not many who do not use a sled in Traditional Rifle match shooting currently.

Groups do look nice.  Too bad that one bullet was a few thou out and spoiled the perfect clover leaf, eh?  Cheesy
