Only issue might be the thermocouple length. If 4" reaches deep enough then it should work.

TM, I have read your article a few times. It is one of the posts/articles that convinced me to obtain a PID and make casting a little more "scientific" rather than endure a big learning curve. I believe they call that instant gratification. 
However, I am an electricity challenged individual who looks at the mess of wires and shudders. And that is why I need some guidance. 
I have been reloading for around 54 years. However, at a spry old age of 76, I don't buy green bananas  Wink And it is the reason I have racked the 336/38-55 and ordered a new SS. Get to the Marlin later. 
So, yeah, I am in a little hurry.
