For several years, when I lived in Michigan, I used 9.5 grains of XMP5744 with an 86 grain softpoint on chucks around the farm.  I gave it up because that bullet was too tough to avoid richochets off the ground if I missed.  Which I cannot remember ever doing on a chuck.  Wouldn't have realized it except for some shooting at paper one day. Could see the richochets clipping twigs downrange.   

Rifle was a sad-looking 44 1/2 with a rough bore, but it would shoot that bullet into minute of woodchuck at 50-60 yards all day long, which was all I needed. Velocity was about 1800 fps.  Litschert scope.

IMHO... most of us use the .25/20 ss with cast bullets breach seated, the cost of brass is high if avail. at all and cases last forever when b/s ing. BSing also brings out the best accuracy in this cal.
