please keep us informed, Many of us are just as interested in the hunting side of single shots as in collecting and target killing.

Had one myself in 45-70. Try the 457193 (I think that is right) bullet. Does a wonderful job on deer and hogs in 30 to one alloy.

Yes Joe,
I have the same saddle rifle but with a 26" light Oct. Bbl. in 45 x 2.4" which I am afraid to try (why would some order such a thing) so it is slated to turn into a Schuetzen in 38-55 or 40-50ish.

I just sold a Saddle Rifle with a 26 inch standard 1/2 round barrel in .40-50 SBN to buy this one. Fun gun to shoot with zero recoil. This one should be a little more robust but not too bad

Another good bullet especially for the hogs would be the Lyman 457125, the old government bullet. From the stories I have read on line its just a killing machine. In the 2.4 it should pretty much be a one shot stop on pigs and probably about the same on deer.
Other than that, any Shiloh is a good thing to have. I have one in the 2.1 that has never drawn blood but damn that thing will shoot. Mostly I have run an original design Postel bullet in it and a case full of black. It just shoots, no getting around that.
Enjoy, its a good gun and a good caliber.

Very nice, Congrats, I've been playing around with the idea of picking up a used one .
But I already have some 45/70's and a couple of 50/70's one an original Civil War Sharps Carbine .I think I should find another S.S. Caliber to invest in. But those Shiloh Sharps sure are Nice !
Enjoy .
