TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD

I recently bought this rifle from a friend. I also got the bayonet. The rifle has had the stock cut off a few inches in front of the barrel band but the metal was left untouched. The bore is bright and shiny.

Looks like a cut down rifle.  Did you buy it as a shooter?

Great looking rifle. Amazing condition.
Value decreased with the cut down, but just shoot it with no apologies. It will do well.
Have one re-barreled in 40-65 that will stay with the Rolling Block's, Hepburn's and Shiloh's out to 500 yards.

Have to admit that my Trapdoor has tang sights and double set triggers.
There have been previous posts on lighting the trigger pull of a Trapdoor.
The sear spring is the place to start.
Think "Boats" on the forum has some experience with it.

Mine had a trigger that was almost tolerable, and with enough concentration would group reasonable well. About two feet higher than the lowest setting of the sights! Yer gonna like that one.

Be sure to shoot it with the 500 grain bullets to get that true historical feeling.

That true historical feeling is critical to the Traodoir experience  Grin
