RE-lubing bullets

I was hoping to find a way to get old hardened lube off of bullets and then relubing them. Heating or boiling come to mind but is there a better way and less messy?

What I do for years and years is place the lubed bullets on several layers of kitchen paper on a flat pan and place in oven at temp high enough to quckly melt the wax. The paper catches almost all the wax and a bit of scraping or wiping with more kitchen paper, while wax is still soft, gets rid of the remainder. No mess if you have used enough paper.

I put them in the oven on a paper towel to absorb the old lube.

If I am relubing bullets with the same lube, I just re lube them without worrying about the old.

If you intend to re-pan lube the bullets with the same lube, just put them in the holes on the cake that you use - heat the pan up and remove the lubed bullets when done

If the mess is a problem here is how I do it. I put them in a really good sized sauce pan and put in a mix of dish soap & water. Bring it all to a good rolling boil. The dish detergent breaks down the Lube. Pour the soap solution off carefully and slowly. This will carry  off most if not all lubricant traces. Then just bring to a boil with clean water do the same thing again.
You will now have clean bullets ready for a lubricant process.

I've stood them on paper towels on a pan and used one of the hand held hair driers to melt the lube off..works better than I had expected..I just had to do it once because of using the wrong lube on a couple hundred bullets.
