Went to our annual long range fun shoot last week, and my friend who puts it on asked me to set up my display of Ballard schuetzen rifles. My camera quit, so these pics are compliments of my friend.

The bottom pictured Schoyen is the one you reworked the Saeco mold for, and took it out for a spin. But I took about half of them off the display and shot them during the week long shoot, plus a few other non schuetzen rifles I had along.
Was extremely infatuated with my Ballard Pacific in .40-85. It was a recent purchase and was consistently hitting the 650 yd. dinger while fire forming case from 9.3x74R, using 20.0 grs. of 2400 and a 345 grain bullet. And they say the light bullets wont hold well very far out!

Vall: I'm glad for you that you liked the Pacific in 40-85.

My first Ballard in .40-85, and I'm hooked Don! I was very pleased with the way it shot, and how well the light 345 gr. RCBS molded bullet worked at long distance! It will see a lot of shooting in the future!

Vall how much differance was there between it and the 32-40 Schoyen in overall dinger hits. Was the Schoyen shot breech seated and the 40-85 shot fixed.

The Schoyen was fired breech seated, and the .40-85 fixed. The big .40 with 345 gr. bullets has a real advantage when I go over 400 yds. The 650 yd. dinger was an easy shot for the .40-85, but the .32-40 Schoyen is affected by wind more. At 400 yds. I didn't have a miss with the .40-85, and very few at 650 yds. either. But the .32-40 held it's own and gave me plenty of grins too!
If it wasn't for my good friend spotting, and loaning me the front sight off his Rolling Block, I wouldn't have even fired the Ballard Pacific! The original Ballard combination globe front had such a tiny post I couldn't see it when I held off for wind. Steve took the sight he built off his gun and we installed it on my Pacific. It has a MVA bubble level, but is an open post of .040" width. The sight picture was amazing, and it seemed to be laser guided on the Pacific! Hopefully I can beg him to make one for me, so I can shoot the Pacific farther! There's a 990 yd. dinger out there, but I ran out of loaded ammo before I got to it!

I hope John Yount also faired well a nicer fellow would be hard pressed to find and I know he was extremely   looking forward to the fun match but I am also not sure what he took along to shoot. 
Hopefully John will chime in and share his experiances outside of that long drive from Ca. and well worth it to be with his friends. As well as to have fun at that fun match of the year and to be able to hang out and visit with all of his close friends.

John Yount brought his CPA in a 3 barrel set of .40-70SS, .30-30, and I believe .32-40? All of the barrels are Douglas and JY was extremely pleased with how all three performed! I believe he was using the .40-70SS barrel with great results on the 990 dinger!
