Chinquapin June Results (finally!)

Finally, here is the report on the Chinquapin Schuetzen event from 6/30-7/1.  In my defense I was trying to recover a lost score, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen, so here we go…

Only one soul braved a round of 200 yd OH, so by default, the winner is (Ta-dah)  Tim Kuntz with a 169-1C on his initial match with his 38-55

200 yd Bench was popular with 8 shooters and 9 guns;
1)  Dale Flinchum                        244-5C
2)  Andy Zahornacky                        244-4C
3)  Tommy Howard                        242-7C
4)  Jim Rowe                              237-4C
5)  Jim Wertz                              234-0C
6)  Robert Thompson                        232-3C
7)  James Wheeler                        231-0C
8)  Stuart Mahler                        228-2C
9)  James Wheeler (1/4 Bore)            148-0C

For 100 yd rimfire OH, again participation was pretty light, so the winner by default was first time shooter (with us, that is) Hector Hernandez with a 180-1C.  Not too shabby on a windy day!

100 yd Bench RF had 7 shooters,
1)  Tommy Howard                        245-3C
2)  Jim Rowe                              240-4C
3)  Stuart Mahler                        240-3C
4)  Jim Wertz                              238-1C
5)  Robert Thompson                        225-1C
6)  Hector Hernandez                        224-0C
7)  James Wheeler                        217-2C

Just for grins Tim (the Tin Man) Kuntz also shot a couple of 100 yd targets with irons on a CF rifle and got a 137-1C OH and a 202-0C from the bench.

Altogether, we had 10 total shooters, 4 of whom shot both days.  We had several first time shooters and not only did Andy Z come down from CT (by way of Raleigh) and bring a grand daughter, a daughter and a son-in-law to observe and try out a few shots.  They all seemed interested and said they’d be back.  We also had a few new shooters to make up for several of our “regulars” who were having health or family situations that prevented their attendance.  We never filled up all 10 of our permanent concrete benches but it was great to have them available.  Thanks to Tim Kuntz for the funding and Martin Miller for setting the block bases.  Everybody on Friday morning pitched in to set the new tops in place.

We intentionally scheduled this event to coincide with Brushy Mtn’s Skeet Tournament so we had our meals under group conditions for Friday night and Saturday, making for more relaxed shooting scheduling.  Even with our relatively small numbers this time, a lot of fun and fellowship was had by all.

Our next scheduled shoot will be held on 20 & 21 October.  This should be early enough for Indian Summer weather but late enough to miss other shoots going on in the Fall.  Remember, “You must be present to attend!”

Fine scores by some excellent shooters. I offer my respects and congratulations to all.
Looking forward to seeing y'all in October. Maybe we could have a Quarter Bore match if we have enough shooters!?

Ray - I will likely bring a 25 Hornet and/or a 25-20SS in October.

A question on the RF BR match. Is it possible to get a 245 with only 3c or is it suppose to be 5c?

Also, is the 242 7c correct in the CF match?
