First group fired with my Rolling Block

Went to the range and fireformed 20 pieces of brass for my 6mm-30/30 AI this morning.  I used Hornady 25-35 wcf brass and only lost 2 so I considered that a huge success.  I have pounds of V133 on hand so loaded up some 85gr Speer bullets and let fly at 50 yards to get on target.  My boresighting eyes did not fail me and I was right on for horizontal and just a tad high.  The following picture is my first group fired with this rifle, 5 shots at 50 yards with a 12 o'clock hold on the target.  I was very pleased with the group.  I am using a Vickerman die for seating and a Hornady 6mm universal sizing die.  With these results I think I might send a few cases off to Whidden for a custom f/l sizing die.  Tom

Very nice group and its also nice to see you made it beyond a three shot group that so many feel is more than adequate to establish their own but very miss-leading bragging rights. It can only get better from here and very impressive.

Nice shooting! Sounds like a keeper ...

I hear you there!

I myself have switched to minimum of 10-shot groups ... even for my muzzleloaders, but alas I have nothing to share at the moment. A 'short' club butt musket of 75-caliber, of Dutch origin and wearing a 60" barrel, has consumed all my range time as of late. Ah well, at least it's black powdah and a single shot!

All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...
