Many of the Argentine Remington rolling blocks that were "factory reconditioned" had the Argentine markings ground off during the bluing process.  I think the short octagonal section over the chamber is the identifier.  I seem to remember that the one I got from Ye Ole Hunter back in 1960 or 61 did not have the "Model Argentine" marking on the top flat of the octagonal section, but that is what it was.

Those rifles which were stamped 1879 etc and then had the top flat ground to remove the stamping will have a top flat that is wider than the two adjacent flats.  What is sometimes missed is that Remington advertised the military rifles for sale to the general public on an individual basis. Those rifles would not have been stamped with the Argentine contract information.  I have measured unmarked 1879s and found some without any evidence of having been ground. On the other hand the rifles sold direct from the factory would have color cased receivers, which raises the question, how did unmarked 1879 style rifles end up arsenal recondition with all blued metal.

Shot the gun yesterday at 100 yards with 11 gr of Unique and the Lyman 370 gr bullet.   

The trigger pull is something you would have to try to believe it - I have read that it is normally in the 15 lb range and mine is ever bit of that or more.  Anyone been able to get the pull lower and if so, what do you do?

Second concerns the POA vs the POI.  Mine is shooting about 12" high at 100 yards.  I have read and also experienced European military rifles with this same "condition.  IIRC, I believe the battle sights were set up this way and the soldiers were told to aim at the belt line.  Any experience with getting the rifle to shoot closer to POA?

rb-kenn sells a spring kit that will reduce the trigger pull.

A taller front sight will lower the POI.

ssdave makes piano wire trigger return springs, and years ago sent me one to try in my Roller project. It and some Kroil on contact surfaces took my trigger pull from 13 lbs. to under 3 lbs.! He makes the springs that Womack's sells, so that should get your .43 to a much lighter weight pull. 
I bought a roll of .045" piano wire after getting the spring from Dave and made return springs for all of my Rolling Blocks, plus a few other guns using similar springs. It's the cheapest, simplest fix to any heavy return spring issue.

Kroil + moly (or graphite) = slicker than snot on a door knob.
