Matter of taste

Some people think Hepburns and Stevens Tip-ups are not to pretty.
This is really ugly, steel frame with brass transition piece.
Yuck
Look at that forearm!
It looks like a demented decedent of Parkenfarker exists in today's world, and chiseled several different guns together

Have a friend that has an E.A. Brown and had it re-barreld and shoots it breech seated for serious Schuetzen competition and it shoots better than most so looks can be very decieving. It all depends on what one expects to achieve in life good looks or great scores.

Well, I sure think that in plenty of cases the two CAN go together.
I'd choose something besides one of those ugly things.

I appreciate your point Mr. Louis, it's a fine tool.
But it's butt ugly, what could the designers be thinking of?
Maybe they were engineers, but certainly not singleshot guys.
I'm sure you own fine shooting rifles that look good too.
Look at the upper line of the receiver into the transition piece, the angles don't match, I assumed it was designed on CAD, even I can draw a straight line with a computer.
It really looks junky, like parts from two guns were screwed together. I don't pretend to know why there is a transition piece, other rifles don't seem to need one, is it somehow necessary for the action?
Aaron
BTW, this one in 30-30 sold today at auction for $425 plus 15% if you send them a money order. otherwise 17%

Just trying to make a buck buy trying to make a rifle out of a single shot pistol. If it was all steel it'd look somewhat better
some folks liked Audry Hepburn, some folk liked Marilyn Mornroe, and some folk liked Tugboat Annie.

It sort of does Terry. What is really unique is everything is contained within the breech block and it has a real fast lock time and a nice trigger. If you watch the Video in the link you will notice the travel of the breech block is very minimal and positive. Lee Moura who used to shoot with us before he moved has one and it really is quite charming with the changes he made to it to shoot the CBA and Schuetzen matches. It shot extremly well and is very mechanicaly sound. I would not have minded having it at that price just for the action. I could have made a nice and reasonably priced starter rifle for a new shooter on a tight budget that would have been extremely competitive. I would have put one of BRC's choked barrels on it using and cleaning up the original wood. I probably would have had less than $850.00 in the whole thing including the breech seater, bullet mould and a little well spent time. And it would still have ended up being more charming than some of the modern bench rifles I have seen and shoot just as well.

I'd have to agree Aaron. I'd rather shoot lesser scores with a pretty gun, than better scores with an ugly gun. At least if my shooting isn't up to snuff that day, I can still enjoy looking at a pretty gun!

I guess I'd rather shoot good scores with a good looking rifle.
It may be an accurate gun, but we have some just as accurate and not as ugly.
No one is debating the suitability or price, it's just butt ugly.
I was gonna buy it, but I'm afraid if I put it in my safe, the others might spoil.
Just to clarify, it's a matter of taste. So far, no one has said it's good looking.

$425.00 for a $1,700.00 gun? Might make a fair truck gun. You could haul it around in the truck bed and not have to worry about anybody stealing it.
Never mind the mule. Just load the wagon.

Not in this State they would steal a dirty diaper laying in the back of a truck a bed and then try to smoke the crappy contents once its had time to dry out in hopes of a free opps stollen high.
And probably take the whole damn Truck while they are at it.

Agreed.
It only sold for about 1/4 of the original price.
I wonder why?

Yes, and if you want something stolen; box it up nicely and put it in the back of your truck. It will be gone within hours! We used to do that with dog poop, and haul it to work in the bed of the truck. Always got rid of it with no trouble at all!
