My pair of young granddaughters speak of BFFs. Only one person here is twisted enough to corrupt the simple thing that it is.
How long before that post gets deleted or disavowed?

Edit: the post that I referred to has been deleted- probably disavowed as well.

Thankyou for the explanation of Popes statement of 2'' 2.5" at 200 yds.  I figure that if I can shoot a 2.5" group  at 200 meters with a straight black powder load I have probably found the holy grail of black powder performance. So far I'm bout 6" away from that goal.

Don't feel too bad.  That's about as close as I got today at 100 yds. I have a lot to learn about shooting black powder.

Well there is the answer to the question and I admire Joe's honesty and I will never question his scores or his personnel accomplishments from this day forward as I trully do admire his total honesty! All though the thought of Frank's fudge is not really appealing to most of us Conservitives like myself they still have right the free right and the freedom to choose to live their lives anyway they so choose.

Thanks for your input John but, what I'm really after is, working with someone that can actually shoot 250's in a match. I can only shoot 249's so far and I need to find a way to get that last one all the way in side the 25 and Joe knows how to do it.

Hi Guys,
I would like to join this thread. Out here in the circles I shoot the main matches are 100m and 200m bench (110 and 220 yards). Some shoots allow sleds (SSAA state and national - shot with ASSRA targets and rules ) most shoots though are off bags front and back. Also they are mostly shot with calibres 38 and above ( I shoot 40/65's). Additionally it is black powder only and aperture sights (no scopes).
So today was our club day - 13 shots 10 to count at 100m (110 yards) X is 1 inch the 10 is 2 inches.
Score today was 100.5 and group size center center 1.65 inches for the 13 shots.
Now this is the tricky part - how do I compare the conditions under which I shoot to yours over there (small calibers, nitro and scopes)
cheers macca  Smiley

Macca, you needn't compare at all. Shooting of the nature you report stands entirely on its own. Damn fine job!

Frank all Joking aside I do hope you reach your goal and it is indeed nice to have someone take the time to help you reach that goal and I wish you the best.

Thanks calledflyer I appreciate your comment. Oh the target I use as my profile pic. is a 10 shot 100, shot with the same gun but using a sled. They do make a difference. Smiley

Does anybody know when made the statement about 2" or 2.5" groups. While 2" isn't much of a big deal nowadays with modern smokeless powders, perhaps Harry made that comment in the days of black powder, in which case I would think 2" at 200 yds would be very good.
Mike.

It has been about 20 years since I was interested in that statement.  I concluded it was duplex or bp.  That is about what I could do with my Stevens-Pope Ballard shooting 10 shots at 200 yards.

I have never shot it at 100 except for a few CBA matches, 1 shot on each bull.  No group size there.

At 200, it consistently shoots under 2 inches for 10 shots when I  am practiced up with smokeless.  I would expect better with a BR stock.
