That's a very nice group.   

The Bullet's Flight by F W Mann is required reading for any avid shooter.

The bound Shooting and Fishing series is also a very set of volumes to have on hand if you are interested in the history of the sport.  When the reprinted set was offered, it was (and is) very expensive.  I hope you have the three volume index that goes with the set ... it makes it much easier.

I enjoy seeing loose copies of original magazines, but some become very brittle and storage becomes a problem too.  I sold a complete collection of these magazines from an estate on eBay a few years ago.  The earlier issues (pre-1900) sell at a premium; issues from 1900-1917-ish get a few dollars an issue; and those after 1900 don't get very much.  I thought they would bring more money and was disappointed they didn't.

Take care of those books and journals and enjoy them!

Excellent reading resource! And many of the early books and magazines help ferret out what was available on guns, and what early custom gun makers offered. Pope advertised often, and also wrote letters to many old gun magazines that were published back in the early 1900's.

nothing makes me wish there really was a working time machine more than  reading old magazines. take an old American rifleman sometime and go through the classifieds.

Most productive investment I ever made in my life was buying a bound set of the Rifleman '28-'52 about 40 yrs ago; SO much easier to search through than handling single issues.  (Until the '60s, members could choose to receive a bound vol. at the end of the yr, rather than monthly issues, at no extra charge!)  Since then I've accumulated Arms/Man back to the teens, though the very best yrs were mid-'20s until the beginning of WW II, after which there's a noticeable decline in quality.

Used to regret sorely that I hadn't begun buying volumes of the S&F reprint as they were published, but maybe it's all for the best that I didn't; if I had them now, it would just be another burden to worry about disposing of.

Clinton Harris gave me two sets of the Rifleman from 1927 until the early '90s. I got a hundred for one set and gave the other away. I did save the year 1941 because each month there was an article about a single shot rifle. Also in was in the hardbound cover. I thought they would have been worth more. It is interesting to read the classified ads and see the prices of guns just before WWII. 1892 Winchester carbines for $25.

They should be, but only to the "right buyer."  However, value of the post-war issues rapidly declines, until by the '60s, it's nil. Some years ago, I gave away everything I had after 1960 for lack of storage space, tearing out the pages of certain articles I wanted to save, but there weren't many of them.

And now, postal costs make mailing them almost prohibitive.

Here is a closeup of the man that received these hand bills , he also wrote on them and i have had the signature verified.
