my vices of the past are costing me rifles in the future.

The bore is not good.  Bullards may be rare, but that one is very much overpriced.  What would it be worth if it had a liner?

If I were in the market, I'd take the chance on that bore description just based on the rarity of the rifle. I'd have pretty good unfounded confidence that the bore would clean up to good deer hunting accuracy even though it's stocked for target shooting.

Just a vague suspicion, but the barrel may have been messed with a bit. It has the sound of an off length, and I'd consider asking the seller to remeasure the length just for curiosity. It also looks like the crown may have been touched up just a bit. If really needed, I'd consider rebarreling and keeping the original untouched. It looks to be in relatively nice condition, and I believe well under two hundred of them have been documented to still be around. Common as hen's teeth.

It does have the look like someone swung the end of the barrel into something. I can't look at the listing right now, but I thought I saw a small radius cut into the end of the rifling, where maybe it might have originally been flat with the end of the muzzle. It's probably just me. Still, an uncommon configuration of a relatively rare rifle, if I can find my round tuit, I should dig up my book and see if it's listed.
