I would not call J&B Bore Compound an 'abrasive' bore cleaner, as I would better term it to be a 'mechanical' bore cleaner. 

It is a proprietary mixture of ground glass in diamataceous earth, that is 'harder' than copper jacketing or other shooting/combustion by-products, but it is not as hard as steel.

Awesome stuff! Have used it for years! Even once used it on a poured lead lap to flesh out a somewhat pitted muzzleloading bore. Worked like a charm!
  
All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...

If it is not hard enough to scratch steel, how did it do anything for that muzzle-loader?
