New BRC results

Finally got to the range today to shoot the BRC Borchardt that I received last fall. It's a 32-40 with one of the BRC choked barrels. I shot it with a 205 grain bullet and a charge of 14.2 grains of 300 MP. The attached group was at 100 yds. Can't wait to try it at 200 yds. I'm very happy with the rifle.

What primer you still have more verticle than I would care for before going to 200yds. unless your target was hung sideways as pictured. Not at all trying to be demeaning with your results just trying to be honest and more helpful.

I used Winchester LG Rifle magnum primers. The spread was lateral. I hung the target sideways. Anyway, the spread probably has to do with my failings as a bench shooter Smiley I appreciate your comments, John.

I concluded many years ago that arc is my rifle torquing.

Darn fine group for a first time out!!!   it will improve with a little more lead down the tube. Those BRC barrells are showing that they are shooters!

Thank you wcf3840 now knowing the target was hung as pictured you are indeed on right track with your verticle displacment its looking real good. If you did not feel the horizontal was just all you I have found a slight powder or seating depth adjustment will sqeeze it into becoming one nice round hole. I have no doubts that you have an extremely competitive rifle. It can only get better from here and congratulations.

With a bit of sight adjust that would have been one of the precious 250s some around here like to talk about. That'll never get any higher. But the group, the group, could end up becoming something really special.
Great barrel they've given you, and some really promising shooting on your first time out with it. Nice.

I've been shooting my BRC 18 twist choked barreled 45-70 some the last couple of weeks and have gotten what I think are pretty good results so far. The only plain base 45 bullet I have is a 335 gr. flat point made for hunting with another rifle.  It's a little short for a good match bullet but I can usually keep the five shot groups at an inch at 90 yds. on a calm day. The wind seems to kick the little thing around though. A 385 gr. gas check round nose shoots into 1 1/2 or so. It's not a quality mold and I don't like gas checks so I won't be using it. Ken Lewis told me that I'd do better with a bullet of at least 400 grs. I'm researching molds now and will get back to shooting it in a month or so.

( Good Shooting Ken!)
