I tried it with greasers many years ago.  Didn't seem to make any difference.

thank you.
that is what some others have also told me.
what do others think?
the martini 577/450 was loaded with wax and card wads only, and was shot dirty. refer to rourke's drift.
could the wax offer a good seal for starting bore diamer bullets?
keep safe,
bruce.

Hmmm.  I use 1/8" cork under the bullet (in several calibers)  scrapes the bore clean every shot.  (using smokeless as Unique, 4227 etc.)

Well, it would for sure stop gas cutting...  And the brits went to greqt lengths in component design to make sure the wad would expand...

In a Ballard .25-25 Stevens, I am using a thin 1/32" beeswax wad on top of drop tubed powder, 1/8" grease cookie, another 1/32" b.w. wad & 1/16" veg. fiber wad under bullet.  Another variant is 1/32" b.w. wad on powder. Puff-Lon filled to case mouth & compressed by bullet seating.  In both above loadings, Swiss 3FG is used, no compression.  Best accuracy is with 1 barely damp patch thru bore after each shot..bore left damp.
