Do you crimp paper patched bullets. Can you paper patch bullets with lube grooves.

You certainly can patch grooved bullets. Ungrooved bullets have slightly higher BCs, but grooved works fine.

I don't crimp PP, and load my groove diameter (patched) with the patch up against the rifling. I shoot PP with smokeless.

(a) A light factory crimp that removes the bell & doesn't cut into the paper is acceptable.  A roll crimp is a No No
(b) Yes

The 19th-century Swiss 7.5mm "GP90" cartridge used  a paper-patched bullet and  the case neck was strongly crimped into the bullet about 1/8" from its base.  It was apparently durable enough for military use, and for being operated thru the straight-pull bolt action rifles.  AND, it must have shot pretty well, as old target rifles are found chambered for that round.

I do not know of any target shooters that crimp their patched bullets, although I'm sure it can be done.  I certainly don't crimp mine.  A patched bullet is reasonably fragile.  If you crimp them, pull a few out of their cases to be sure that your technique isn't damaging the patch.

I sometimes run my cases into a taper crimp die before seating the patched bullet.  I only do this if I need to reduce the diameter of the neck a thousandth or two to prevent bullets from falling out when the loaded round is being handled.

I should add that when using a taper die to reduce case mouths, you want a taper crimp die, not a standard crimping die.
