Just spectacular. That buttstock is unbelievable, with the grain and colors it looks like a wave breaking over the comb.

I'm liking that lever and peep sight detail too!

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

Lever was "carved" from one piece of steel.  Notice 2 different tang sights.  Joe also made a palm rest.  Quite a feat to coordinate the grain flow and stock layout.

I saw one of his 1878 actions for sale in Vegas, very nice workmanship. Really a nice piece of work that will seal his name in the future. Nicely done Joe.

What a beautiful Borchardt.  How difficult is it to switch barrels?  Tom

Barrel switching is easy.  Release catch underneath like TD Hi-Wall and unscrew barrel.  Lever is retained by coil-spring plunger (again like Hi-Wall) so no spring to remove from underside of barrel.  Because a sliding extractor is incorporated in each barrel, no need to change extractors.  An extractor cam inside the action operates the actual extractor in each barrel.  Not sure if this was Joe's invention?
