Pope in his letters stated that he continued on from the last Hartford number so it would be about 400 where Stevens-Pope numbers start.

Thought by now the last of Warren Greatbach's Pope books, on the Stevens-Popes, might have been published; if not, it can't be far away, after so many years of research and compilation.  That would end all speculation.

Anyone have the others?

I'd love to have them, but would probably have to sell a gun to buy them. So doubt I will.

   I've got #55X & it's a model 47 on a 44 action so I would think a 44 1/2 would be a higher number.     MIKE

If you've got one of the guns, don't you need the book to go with it?  Set you back only a few C notes, I suspect.

No relevant info, by the way, in Smith's book.

One of the older ASSRA Journals has a real nice compliled list of the Pope's made basicaly listing the Serial #'s, action and what they were chambered in that some might find interesting.

There are a bunch of Pope barrels that aren’t on the rifles they started out on. Pope barrels were occasionally found that had been separated from their actions. Smiths repurposed them on to different guns.
