Just got it back from Steve Durren, who did a fantastic job.  It's a No.3 action, No.1 buttstock, and Steve's custom made BR forend.  Barrel is a Douglas #5 contour target  with a Redman .22 LR liner. Trigger pull is 1 1/4 lb. The lever is Steve's design. 
Trying to decide which scope I want to put on it: a Lyman STS 20x in DZ Posa mounts, or a Unertil 12x in Unertl mounts, or a Weaver T16 with fine Xhairs and 1/8 dot, USA made.

Thanks. I'll post some better photos with scope and with receiver sights when I get my "gun room" set up.

Very nice. Another great Steve Durren piece. He did a great job on my No.1's trigger.

Am wondering why you choose the Redman liner over the TJ liner?

Please include a closer picture of Steve's lever. Cannot really tell how it latches in the photo above.

Thanks, Glenn.  Actually, Steve chose the liner.  He told me he preferred the Redman liner, so I went with his suggestion.   

I am attaching a photo of the lever that Steve sent me.  Should answer you question.  Nice work and adds a touch of class to the No. 3 action.

Always wondered why Ruger chose to make the #1 with a latching lever, but the #3 without? Since they do share some calibers I would think they'd make them both with or without?

Who knows any production gun maker's reasoning. I often wondered why Ruger never made a .22 RF version of the No.1 or No.3. Or why they didn't make an adjustable trigger option.

Well I understand the .22RF not being made, as it might be too expensive to get the sales they'd like. It would be a great idea, and likely every Ruger #1 fan would want to own one!
The adjustable trigger option would be easy, and very popular. But lawyers probably killed that idea if it ever came up!

Or why Ruger has dropped the No.1 all together as soon as the anniversary rifles are gone. Ruger has become too big to be worried about such small runs as the No.1. Too bad for us and them.

This rumor seems to be endless! Vice President of Ruger, Chris Killoy squashed this rumor earlier this year, saying the Ruger #1 is not being discontinued. He said some poor selling calibers will be dropped, but that they might add calibers that have been requested often.

It would be nice for Ruger to add some "nostalgic" calibers and improve their stock trigger, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Though I certainly don't need any more rifles, if Ruger made a No. 1 with a 28" 32-40 barrel, I'd add that to my stable.

I just wish that the No.1 was more tang sight friendly.

in this case my choice would be the weaver. we need to remember the #!/#3 was Bill Ruger's baby. would be nice if just actions were again available. will never happen in our litigation crazy society.
