Gunbroker item 618725251. Anyone here know what brand action this is. Could be a C Sharps High Wall. Got it listed as a Browning Low wall. I know that's wrong. With new barrel would make nice black powder rifle. Would appreciate any info. Thanks Mike

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Don't know who GOFF is, but it sure looks like a C Sharps action to me.

I agree it is a C. Sharps High Wall. Thick side receiver walls and octagon receiver ring are good indicators.

Maybe a C. Sharps but could be made from a set of castings.  It doesn't look like it's timed very well because of how deep the lever sets into the receiver and yet the lever doesn't touch the lower tang. I wonder where the firing pin hits?  Top of hammer knurling doesn't look C. Sharps from those I've looked at.  Hard to tell.

Maybe owned or worked on by Byron Goff?

Gotta say that the work on the wood and the stamping of the caliber on the barrel has me skeptical as to the quality of work fitting and chambering the barrel.

Seems to me if the action came from C.Sharps Arms, there would be a serial no. on the left side of the receiver unless it's a lunchbox action, or I missed a serial # in the photos.

kkid66, I believe that the C Sharps hi wall came from Bo Clerke.

re: C Sharps hiwalls,I thought Shoffstall got what Ed Weber left had when he gave up on Single Shot Inc. Same town, same time frame. But time is blurring a lot of details lately.

Shiloh used to sell and maybe still does, Hi wall casting sets. Thick side, oct. top. Maybe that is what the OP's gun is made from. Pretty sure L.C. Sheline made the molds and later sold them to Shiloh.

Didn't the Clerke hiwall have a longer front ring on the action or did Clerke make both types?
