JB,Marlinguy,
Actually it was the M1886 that first came out with
a strong action with Two Locking lugs, and it was at the time
designed around the larger BP ctges such as 45 Govt, etc. Only later did the '86 become available chambered for the 33 win smokeless loading.
And the M92 also a double lugged "Mini 86 was at first chambered for BP ctges which later were made available
loaded with smokeless powder.
I believe the M94 has only One locking lug.????

In the lower right hand corner of the label, you will see a date in month-year format. That is when that particular label was placed in service. The box would have been made after that. Using old catalogs, as mentioned, is the best way to try to verify a time frame of production.

Sendaro, check the label date, lower right hand corner.  Tell us what it is, please.

And DO NOT open the packet.  Value unopened is much greater.  These are very collectible both by Winchester purists and by advanced cartridge collectors.  I have not been able to pin down a price.  Until then, consider it worth $100+.  Maybe more.

Collectors cartridges do not usually sell for astronomical sums because there are an awful lot of cartridges in circulation.  But an UNOPENED box like this is pretty rare.

Thank you to all for the information.

I checked the label in the bottom right corner. There I found "2 19". So this suggests to me that it was Feb. 1919. I have three of these that are unopened and in what appears to me near mint condition. If some one wanted one for their collection I could be tempted to part with two of the 3.
