I made a rather poor video on this rifle. Enjoy!

Thank you very much, I enjoyed!
This is an item on my wish list, a few will show up one year with a long dry spell till the next batch comes out of hiding.
I saw your post on Gunboards, and despite the cautious advice not to shoot I would say "Go for it!!", just to say you've done it.  If it shoots anything like a Berdan II it will be very accurate.

I hope to be aware when it comes up for sale.....

Ballards may be weaker,

Thank you for showing the Colt Berdan, and doing a video also! I've never seen one before, and enjoyed your video!

Nice Berdan.  Looks like a Type I from your video.  Designed by Hiram Berdan following the Civil War. He was more famous for his Berdan Sharpshooters during the Civil War and also the Berdan Primer system.  Quite an interesting man.
I don't know why you couldn't shoot it.  Ammo was still available at gun shows about 10 years ago and still may be.  I was thinking of buying one and thought it would be a hoot to take to our gong matches.  The ammo came in 8 packs wrapped in pale blue paper.  The only problem I found was that there is no parent case to make brass from and would probably take a custom mold.

I always wondered how those worked.  The book pictures looked amazingly streamlined for the era they were produced in.  Thanks for the tutorial!

Any plans to shoot it?

Last time I looked Buffalo Arms had brass reformed from 348 Win. with the rim reformed with a "step" to make it thicker.  43 Spanish could be used as well.  The Lyman 427103 was designed for this ctg. but can be hard to find; an RCBS 44-300GC works well.  Altho the groove diameter is about .446 or so, the max bullet that will chamber is about .432.

The parent case for the 10.75x58R for conversions is 11mm Mauser
