NOE doesn't do custom mold, unless you can get 10 buyer for the same mold.

This is NOE's only rifle mold in 40 cal:

Take a look at AccurateMolds.com     A lot of us have used them with happy results.  But-----nothing under .30 cal last time I checked, and no spitzers; all his bullets have a small meplat.
On the good side, if you can live with a very small meplat, you can basically design you own--- or alter specs on one of his existing offerings.
I have not checked, but there are probably a couple pages of .40+ molds.

I've got half a dozen or more and not a problem in the lot. Cheesy

Tom does do custom, and makes various flat nose sizes, and shapes, but no round nose.

Note that Tom at Accurate Bullet Molds will cut the bearing surface to desired diameter -0/ +.002" in your specified alloy (several choices in a pull-down menu) and the nose -.002"/+0, if you want a bore riding bullet without a separate nose sizing step.

NOE makes a push through sizing die that takes inserts of varying sizes, and nose sizing inserts for the same die body for more precise control of a bore-riding nose diameter.

Actually AL at NOE will do a custom mold - I know this because he was on the phone discussing one with a customer while I was there visiting him.
He does very few of them because of the $300 development and cherry grinding charge. That's alot to pay for a single mold, so by far the best option is to get a group buy going. Organize a group buy for a tapered .40 cal and I'll be the first on the list! (and I don't even have my CPA 40-65 barrel yet).

This is a drawing of my Ron Long 40 cal. And what it would look like for a .410 groove.

I would also check with Fred Leeth at Pioneer Moulds. If memory serves me right there was only a $50.00 up charge if it required a new cherrie to be made for an item not currently in stock. $300.00 for a custom NOE mould seems to be quite a bit more money for a custom mould compared to Fred Leeth's pricing for same and Fred's blocks are cast iron or free maching steel.

G,day,
Have had a reply back from Steve Brooks,he can make the mould I require,I just need to get the $s together,I wanted a nose pore ,he assured me his base pore will work just fine,it's a two diameter design 1.270 long .500 nose, first 4 bands 0.402 last two 0.410 weight aprox 370gns.Have shot it in my 40/65 R/B with great success but cannot beg or borrow any more ,need my own mould.I might ask Joe to post a pic of the design as I cannot post pics from my iPad ,he has been most kind before .The alloy is 30/1 lead : tin, My barrel is a Douglas 16/1 twist 0.400 bore 0.408 groove.

     Kind Regards Mal.

Hi Mal,

I had Dave Farmer of Hoch make me a Ron Long spitzer from one of Franks drawings.

Regards,
Bob

That's a excellent looking mold, Bob. I like the round nose on it, too. That will make it better when it goes subsonic.

I never really think of Hoch for base pours or spitzers but, that mold looks very nice.

Mal - have you looked at the 400gr 'Kidwell' Money bullet from Buffalo Arms? It is one of the favored bullets in the BPCR/BPTR crowd 40cal (40-65, 40-70, 40-72, 40-82) up here. Several folks shoot it all the way out to 1000yd. Many of us shoot any number of cleans on pigs at 300m (admittedly, a large target) and the 200yd bullseye each season using fixed BP loads. Their molds are $142 plus shipping (ask for international USPS Priority Mail).

A couple of other 'standard' 40cal bullets that work well in your 16" twist barrel are the 640 Saeco and a Brooks 410gr bullet. The 640 works best at distances of 300m and less.

SS SHOOTER, I am using the saeco 640, it's ok but not a real BS pill, have tried the snover again ok but does not BS all that well either,I have a tapered Lyman 395gn OK at a 100 a bit wild at 200,The match we shoot at Hahndorf SA. is 200yds MOA 2" bull shot either prone or sitting,BP only.I am impressed with the Barco moulds they shoot very well but with only reduced front bands. The pill I want has the first 4bands reduced BS much better.I also like the lighter weight ,with 68-70 gns Wano P a real pussy to shoot.Having said all that I am always willing to try any other pill that may do the job.I was warned when taking up BP it was an evil science . So true!!

       Cheers Mal.
