Just purchased this awaiting delivery. Pretty excited about it. It is 32-40, as built.

Very cool rifle and with its original case too!  Well done!

What's the history of the caliber of this rifle?  Has it been re-chambered?  ... rebored?  ... relined?  I know Eley produced .32-40 cartridges but it would be uncommon for a fine English martini to be chambered in an American cartridge.

I hope you will post more photos when you get it.

... Joe

thanks gentlemen

I know of other WR martinis chambered in 32-40. The express sights seems to back this up. Also there was letter/postcard from WR, probably the 40-50's by the look of it. Talking about the martini rifle, serial number, cal 32-40. They then go on to say that the records of who purchased the rifle are gone. I guess the then owner was trying to track down the original owner.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Don't forget the round block small frame 1902 Webley in 32-40. My dream rifle.
