	I do not care about the value of the appraisal. I would very much like to see the letterhead and the signature. It may be a link to some old & very positive memories, or maybe not.

	And to add to the interest the Crozier gun room was also the same building as a world famous barrel maker and gun shop that he took over from.

	It's Jerry Crozier's gunshop. Spent a lot of time there, first in the 1950s when I was in high school, later in the late 60s. Just spent the afternoon on a rifle that I bought there in 1968. Lots of pleasant memories. Jerry taught me a lot about single shots.

	Sorry for causing a commotion for blanking out the price. (And for being MIA after posting it, life just got to busy to follow-up here.) I've been researching this and several other rifles and after making posts like this across several different messageboards I'm just getting skittish about the digital trail. Anyway I've pondered this a bit and have to agree there's probably little harm in sharing it. The conservative estimate was $2250 and the reference to the other "not engraved" one was $2950. And Waterman and Tom Trevor, those are exactly the historical references I was hoping to glean from posting the photo. I was truly hoping someone would have been able to say "i've been there"! Thanks and any other comments regarding this model and the history behind this type of stevens would be truly appreciated! Oh, CalledFlyer, no this rifle has not been shot by anyone. I would even be surprised if my grandfather had shot it. He was a collector and auction-goer mostly...

	FWIW: 1983 $2250 "inflates/calculates" to 2017 $5421. $2950 comes out at $7108.

	Coulter, I'm glad you're here, and showing such a great rifle! I was about to post a "burn him, get the torches out!" rejoiner, but see you're back. As a new member, I was pretty surprised at the rabid responses. I would also have liked to have heard the price, but wasn't too worried that you didn't show...at first. What is surprising is how HIGH they were back then. That was a LOT of money, when a winchester 1873 was about $900 and a Colt New Service was about $450.
