Yes, Star closed their doors about 20 years ago. Not positive, but I think they sold the Rolling Block copies in the 1980's. They were not a high end gun for sure, but can't remember hearing any bad reports on them.
If I remember correctly they made a rifle and a carbine with forearm/barrel band.

marlinguy, thanks for the info, I bought this rifle on a auction out of Marshall, Michigan, as a star model 1871 single shot 22cal. rifle s#R0833. Acopy of the Remington 1871. The rifle has an 22 barrel on the front end but not on the rear end. Here are some photos of the rifle and three different caliber plus a chamber cast of the rifle now. Anyone have a idea of what wildcat this might be??? Need help. Bonner

Might be a .219 Zipper or a .219 Zipper Ackley Improved? Or the .22-30-30 Ackley Improved. Rim diameter and base diameter appears to be close to the .22-30-30 AI.

In any event , it is high-pressure varmint case.  Not a good idea in a lower-end Spanish rolling block.  Was it originally a Hornet?  or maybe a .22 rimfire?

I thought I remember seeing a carbine that looked a lot like that.  IIRC, it was chambered in .357 Magnum revolver cartridge.

Waterman, I believe the rifle started life as a 22RF, somewhere along the line it has been rechambered to the unknown cal. The only other info I can find is Numrich Corp. has some parts for this gun, and it must have been offered in a 30-30 because they have a barrel in that cal for sale. Still searching for more info into this model rifle. Bonner

I would highly recommend you not shoot this rifle as chambered.  Too much pressure. Certain to at least stretch the action.  Could be worse.

re-kenn, I bought this rifle online as a 22 lr. After receiving the rifle and finding it had been rechambered , I called the Auction company and explained the problem. I was told to return the rifle for a full refund including shipping. This made my day. Bonner
