How deep are the rifling grooves?  I have had a couple of early smokeless era Austrian & Czech rifles with grooves so deep that cast bullets are useless.

that loud thump you all heard was my Jaw hitting the floor upon seeing the picture of that takedown system    I've seen several  T.D types over the long years but NEVER one that worked like that    AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Removing the Weaver bases, and having the custom bases cut for a clamp style quality ring might be a simple fix that would clean it up. I doubt an old European claw mount would be an easy fit, but some lower. cleaner bases, would change it for the better. Especially if a nice old European scope could be located too.

The bore slugges .325/.326, the rifling does not appear overly deep

Holy Crap!  I thought it was a cool rifle and then I saw how it takes down!  I never suspected that from the picture of the assembled rifle.   
I too am "green with envy".  What a pleasure cleaning up the scope/mount system and getting this one back right and shooting would be.  Congrats and thanks for sharing.
