Really terrific rifles ! I am beyond impressed. Making a Freund sharps conversion is on my bucket list. If you have any shop notes/tips they would be greatly appreciated. Also-the question of how to handle making a square hole with radiased tools ? Did you use a shaper, files etc ?

We all should be embarrassed seeing these beautiful works. Sure, some here can make an action, some do barrel work, stocking, and other talented things. But, nobody here has done many of these things and mentioned doing his own engraving in addition. I stand humbled at your acompishments- bravo.

Call flyer, I do not do checkering so that I hire out. And the engraving on the Fraser is far beyond me, Roger Sampson did that for me. He used the rifle at the Guild show for a couple of years to showcase his scroll work. He did it perfectly to what I wanted. On the Sharps I had finished the barreled action and sold it to a friend because of a divorce. He had Larry Dullum stock and checker it. Then he sold it back to me after a few months.
I always have said that design is everything to me and depending on the look you wish to achieve then use the best source for the materials and skill. I am a metal worker and stocked the rifles except the sharps. I was an okay engraver but not an artist which is a required ability to do it really well.
Don't skimp on cost of material the hours of work is the same on a plain rifle as it is on a show piece. Your work is what is most valuable. I would estimate that the cost of the materials I used to build the clocks exceeded $6000. "Good wood don't grow on trees"

Zack T,
I would have to dig to see if anything see exists as that was more then 20 yrs ago. The square hole was wire cut. However, the british use to file the square holes in using safe files and filing jigs. Always wanted to try that. I would imagine that Sharps themselves did the same after the action was forged.

I've seen the clocks and had the rifles in hand, the pics don't do them justice. Lynn claims to be a friend but he will not make a clock for me, nor a rifle, he also says he won't adopt me!
I'll wait for the auction.

Wow what a friend you are....would the auction follow my passing or bankruptcy. The later caused by you sending me leads for nice but over priced guns.
Thanks Ric for the compliments

The joke around here is that you can tell who your friends are when you have your heart attack at the range. Friends do CPR while the other guys go through your shooting box
. I want to know the freund cam plate trick !!
