Looks like heaven to me...... I wish I had something like that here in the east. Maybe one day I can venture west and take in a shoot. With the crazy gun laws and everything else going on I just hope those kind of matches can and will continue. More pictures if possible please. Also does anyone make videos of the matches? If so where could they be found.

That is some nice place to shot, considering the cold of winter with heat provided. We have a place to shot here, not as pretty but it is like a wind tunnel and no heat.

Just wondering, what is the size of the building?

I read somewhere at one time the National Guard used the range and someone got the idea to clean it up they took all the old targets and posters for shoots from all over and way back down and into the stove they went. To the clubs dismay.

Not sure, but they would not be very practical in wildness travel off the farm. I would bet mules were preferred for packing.

Yep, they started there. A knight in armour would be too big a load for standard horses marching to the Crusades  Roll Eyes  Far better options for a pack horse.  First problem would climbing a ladder to load 200 pound packs  Cheesy

The big ones lower legs break down if trotted.  My dad used to run strings up to 1/4 mile long.   He said he couldn't go slow enough; the ones at at the end had to trot to keep up.  Draft horses couldn't take that for very long. 

I used to know a guy that ran pack string for Merrill's Mauraders.  I think he said the used mostly mules, but it has been a long time.
