Stevens Tip ups

Bored and its too cold to work outside, so I snapped a couple pics of the Stevens clutch. I wish I could pick up a couple more at prices of even a couple years ago. I watched a stripped action sell on GB for nearly $400, so now there are several listed that cant even get a bid at well under $100. I would sure love to know what they did with the stripped parts. Its a shame.

I like the ergonomics of these old tip-ups.
What calibers are your rifles?
I have two, .22LR and 32WCF.

Three 25-20ss's, a 32/40, a 32WCF, and two in 25rf. The one with the palm grip is the gain twist barrel described in an earlier post. Very soon, I hope to start shooting them. I am a week away from finishing the range room. Just the thought of shooting all winter from a comfortable heated room is exciting. -4 out right now. Tonite was the last night of muzzleloader season. Deerless yet again.....

25-20SS seems to me to be the perfect caliber for these guns,
but I have no solid reasoning for my opinion.
Did they make one in 38WCF?

Your tip ups are very nice! They are a collecting and shooting field all on their own, and were very expensive to buy in their day. I bought one here way back in the mid-70's - should also have bought the white 1968 Shelby Mustang too! I believe it was a No.8, standard wood, swiss butt plate, 2 barrels numbered to the rifle, one in .25-25, and the other .32 Ideal, both had sights, a metal insert with a forend (but not the smaller frame ladies model). It was an all factory Stevens. It was a fun rifle to own and shoot. It went to a Florida collector/dealer in the 90's. I've never seen it since.

These are neat rifles. Only have a couple. A decent one in .25 Stevens Rimfire with a mint bore and a "brown" one thats not so nice that I bought cheap and had a liner installed in. It's a fun plinker. Still looking for a nice one in an interesting centerfire like .25-20SS, .25-21. or .25-25.
